Sponsored Projects provides centralized coordination and oversight of externally funded research at Brown through a wide range of services. This team:

• Interprets and and disseminates research policy information
• Provides training and professional development opportunities in research administration
• Performs due-diligence review of new, nonfederal research sponsors 
• Reviews and submits proposals from all campus departments, centers, institutes and libraries for grants, contracts and other agreement types
• Negotiates, accepts and monitors awards in accordance with University policies
• Performs subrecipient monitoring and subrecipient risk assessments
• Drafts, negotiates and executes subaward agreements with research collaborators 
• Ensures compliance with governmental and private funding requirements, both domestic and foreign
• Establishes and monitors sponsored research financial accounts
• Advises on financial management of sponsored projects
• Manages University effort reporting requirements
• Prepares and submits interim and final financial reports 
• Ensures sponsored project financial compliance, including internal and external audits 
• Navigates financial or administrative issues that arise throughout the life of an award
• Coordinates award closeout processes with PIs, departments and sponsors
• Provides sponsored project subject matter expertise for University financial (Workday) and grant (Huron) systems implementation and testing

The Sponsored Projects team provides Brown researchers and administrators with training, education and professional development in research administration through a wide range of services.
