Division of Research

Training Resources and Support

The Division of Research offers a wide range of training opportunities and resources that are designed to assist members of the Brown community as they navigate their way throughout the Research Cycle.

Research Administration Systems

Brown's Research Administration Systems, including Huron and InfoEd, assist researchers in the areas of grants, agreements, modules, legal and regulatory documentation, protocol review, and conflict of interest, among others. Access the knowledge centers for Huron and InfoEd to explore the available training opportunities.

Huron replaced Brown’s old electronic research administration system, Coeus, on Dec. 9, 2024. Find a range of support including a live chat with members of the Division of Research, job aids, videos, as well as online training modules.
InfoEd training can be found in Workday Learning. To register, log in to Workday using your Brown credentials, navigate to the Learning module and click Search for Available Learning under Links. Search for “InfoEd” to find any classes or video materials pertaining to InfoEd topics.

Requirement-Related Trainings

Some trainings are required for members of the Brown community to complete their research. These types of trainings are available for certain federal grants and awards, as well as those that stem from institutional policy.

Brown offers several options for Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training, which is a requirement for certain federal grants and fellowship awards. Offerings include the BEARCORE Training Program.
In compliance with Brown Institutional Review Board (IRB) policy, all research personnel who are engaged in human subjects research at the University are required to have appropriate education and training to protect participants in research.

Internally Sponsored Opportunities

Teams within the Division of Research offer trainings that relate directly to the subject matter that those teams are most closely associated.

Through quarterly sessions, the Brown Bag Series covers topics of interest to Brown's Research Community. Organized by Sponsored Projects.
Sponsored Projects also provides Brown researchers and administrators with training, education and professional development through Workday Learning. Search for "Office of Sponsored Projects."
