Humanities Research Funds
Apply for Humanities Research Funds
- Each department eligible for Humanities Research Funds is given a fixed amount of money annually, and faculty apply directly to their chairs for support.
- Typical awards range from $1,000 to $4,000, but worthy projects may receive additional support. For 2025, HRF awards may be up to $8,000 for a single faculty member.

The 2025 HRF Cycle's expenditure window runs from Jan. 1 - Dec. 31, 2025, with requests due on Jan. 7, awards confirmed on or about Jan. 31, and reports due on or about March 27, 2026.
The Division of Research awards Humanities Research Funds (HRFs) to support faculty research in the humanities and social sciences, where external funding opportunities may be limited. Each eligible department is given a fixed amount of money annually.
