Whether you are bringing your research to Brown as an incoming faculty member or are responsible for transitioning research when a faculty member or other researcher leaves the University, the process may require multiple steps and actions and involve several offices.

Transition Guidance

For Incoming Faculty Principal Investigators

Researchers who will be joining the Brown University faculty should follow the necessary steps to transfer research awards, data or materials, complete necessary compliance training and documentation or submit proposals for research they intend to begin once at Brown.

For Outgoing Faculty Principal Investigators

Principal investigator (PI) transfer or terminations can involve multiple offices and actions. The Division of Research offers recommendations and requirements for a successful exit from Brown.
