NSF Post-Shutdown Guidance

The National Science Foundation has recently updated their Resumption of Operations at NSF website to share post-shutdown guidance for applicants and awardees. This site includes many helpful FAQ, including the following:

What if a proposal was submitted during the shutdown?
Proposals submitted during the shutdown remain valid and will be processed in order of receipt. No resubmission is required unless a technical issue occurred.

I submitted a proposal to a deadline that occurred during the appropriations lapse. I had hoped to speak to a program officer prior to submission but was unable to do so. Will I now have an opportunity to engage with a program officer and resubmit?
Now that operations have resumed, you may reach out to the cognizant program officer or point of contact email for discussion or clarification. Changes to proposals requested after the submission deadline require approval from the designated program officer. NSF cannot reopen a closed deadline or allow resubmission unless the relevant program issues a revised solicitation or deadline notice.

This website also provides guidance related to travel, No Cost Extensions, and other activities that may have been affected by the recent shutdown. In addition, NSF encourages applicants to monitor the NSF funding opportunity page to see if any proposal deadlines have been extended.

*Please note that this guidance relates to NSF only. While NIH has released some basic guidance regarding their reopening, we are still awaiting more detailed information, such as proposal guidance and updated deadlines. Once NIH releases that information, we'll send additional communication.*
