With the introduction of the new Huron Grants system, the Division of Research, Office of the Controller, and the Office of Information Technology have carefully considered research administration community feedback on the December 2024 change to Huron integration of Workday Grant Roles. All divisions have worked collaboratively to devise an integration update that we believe will alleviate obstacles in view access to awards across child financial accounts (including in different cost centers).
Update as of March 5, 2025:
The Workday grant roles of Grant Manager and Grant Financial Analyst who have access to a parent (or primary) award will now be able to manage or view (depending on role) child accounts that sit under that primary financial account in Workday. If your department differs from child account departments, if you have a Grant Manager or Grant Financial Analyst role in the parent department, you can view all financial accounts under that parent umbrella. Also, if you hold one of these roles in a child account’s cost center you will still have access to manage or view your child account(s) only.
We hope this update streamlines your work across awards that may have various child accounts in departments that differ from the parent award department. We appreciate the community’s feedback and look forward to how Huron Grants can streamline work for the research administration community in the years to come.
(Note: Huron functionality was re-examined regarding these roles; this is not a Workday issue.)
