NSF Proposal Guidance

NSF Guidance Materials

The National Science Foundation (NSF) requires that all proposal submissions include a full disclosure of current and pending support from any source. Researchers must identify all sources of support, ensuring that complete and accurate information is provided.
The National Science Foundation (NSF) Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training requirement applies to all NSF research awards, with the exclusion of conference, symposium, workshop or travel proposals.
Consistent with National Security Presidential Memorandum 33 (NSPM-33), senior/key personnel are required to disclose support on National Science Foundation (NSF) contracts associated with participation in programs sponsored by foreign governments, instrumentalities or entities, including foreign government-sponsored talent recruitment programs.
NSF requires the University to notify the agency promptly of findings or determinations of “sexual harassment, other forms of harassment or sexual assault” concerning NSF-funded PI or Co-PI, as well as of any interim administrative actions imposed by the University relating to any finding, determination or investigation of an alleged violation by a PI or Co-PI of the University’s harassment and assault related policies.
The NSF Proposal and Award Policies and Procedures Guide was updated to incorporate language on Safe and Inclusive Working Environments for Off-Campus or Off-Site Research (Chapter II.E.9), which describes the new requirement for the University’s authorized organizational representative to certify that Brown has a plan in place for safe and inclusive research for any proposal to conduct off-campus or off-site research.
