NIH eRA Commons
To obtain an NIH User ID for eRA Commons — or to add, remove, or change any of your roles — complete the NIH eRA Commons request form.

Individuals who are external and not affiliated with Brown University must be sponsored by a department to request affiliation. Before requesting an NIH eRA Commons ID, refer to the Sponsored ID request process.
NSF Research.gov
To obtain an NSF User ID, register directly at Research.gov.
NSF accounts have a two-step process for roles (PI, Co-I, Postdoc). If you need a role, you will:
- Register your account in Research.gov. An activation confirmation email will come to you via Research.gov once you log in for the first time.
- Request your needed account role(s) when logged into your account at Research.gov.
